Trying to find a way forward with your book (or book-to-be) but mind-boggled by all the different publishing paths?
Or perhaps your book is still just an idea, and you are struggling to find a way to give it form and substance? Or wondering if it is even worth the time and effort? Or need some support with brainstorming ways forward?
I can help with all of that and more. I offer 1:1 consultations via video call (and occasionally face to face), where we can delve, in a relaxed and non-judgemental way, into the challenges you are facing and see if we can find a way forwards which works.
In short, nothing is off the table when it comes to the whole process of book creation. I don't claim to know everything, but I believe I have a fairly good overview of things and paths that have (and haven't) worked for others. And if there is something I don't know, I will do my best to look into it and follow up the session with a complementary email.
Sessions normally last for 1 hour, and as this is a trial offering, they're priced at the equivalent of one of my normal editing hours: £28/€33/US$37.
Here are a few things we can cover (depending on what stage you're at and what is relevant):
Refining who your readership is and working out if there is a demand for your book in the first place.
The different stages of the editing process and whether they are all necessary for you.
How to find free support online.
What sort of word count you should be aiming at.
How to find a publisher or self-publish – and what both those routes are likely to involve.
Preparing book proposals and covering letters that capture attention.
Building an author platform.
Potential scams and red flags to look out for.
